World Happiness Report 2022: Finland is the Happiest Country in the World for the Fifth Year in a Row:
For the fifth consecutive year, Finland has been ranked the happiest country in the world in an annual UN-sponsored survey. According to the report, Denmark ranked second, followed by Switzerland, Iceland, and the Netherlands on the list of best places to live. Finland scored very high on "measures of mutual trust that contributed to the protection of lives and livelihoods during the pandemic", according to the report.
- The largest increases in wellbeing were recorded in Bulgaria, Romania, and Serbia, while Lebanon, Venezuela, and Afghanistan recorded the largest drops in world happiness.
- New Zealand was the only nation that did not have a European connection in the top 10. In this year's ranking, the UK dropped from 13th to 17th place.
- The happiness ranking for India improved marginally, moving up three spots to 136.
World Happiness Report 2022:
Every year since 2012, the World Happiness Report has been published by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network using data on happiness, economics, and social conditions. Globally, 149 countries were asked to rate their happiness as part of the World Happiness Report 2022.
