Kargil Vijay Diwas 2022: Our Nation is Grateful For Heroes Who Sacrifice For the Country
On 26 July, all over India, we commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas to honor India's victory over Pakistan in 1999.
In honor of the Kargil War's heroes, Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on 26 July. India celebrates this day throughout the country, including in New Delhi, where the Prime Minister pays tribute to the soldiers at the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate.
We are celebrating Kargil Vijay Diwas today across the country. It has been 23 years since India defeated the Pakistani army on this day. New Delhi's War Memorial will be a place of remembrance for the martyrs, including the three chiefs of the armed forces, including Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
The Indian troops stationed there initially assumed the infiltrators were jihadis without knowing the true nature or scope of the incursion and said they would drive them out in a matter of days. The Indian army realised the attack plan was significantly larger when it was later discovered that infiltration had occurred further along the LOC and different infiltration tactics were being used. The entire territory seized by the invasion is typically estimated to be between 130 and 200 square kilometres. Operation Vijay, a mobilisation of 200,000 Indian troops, was the government of India's response. The removal of Pakistan Army soldiers from the area on July 26, 1999, signalled the formal conclusion of the war and established the date as Kargil Vijay Diwas. Five hundred and twenty-seven Indian soldiers were martyr in the war.
