Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal both made fifty runs for Rajasthan Royals in overpowering Ruturaj Gaikwad's maiden hundred during Rajasthan Royals (RR) Vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Match 47 of VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. In 17.3 overs, RR chased down the target thanks to Jaiswal's fiery 50 and Dube's quick 64*. CSK scored 189/4 on Gaikwad's incredible 101*. Jaiswal and Lewis led the RR opening pair right out of the gate. Jaiswal made five fours in the first four overs as Ambati Rayudu failed to hold on to a tough chance, whilst Lewis smashed two sixes to propel RR to fifty in four overs.
In the fifth over, Jaiswal hammered three sixes and a four against Josh Hazlewood to complete a 19-ball fifty - his first in the IPL. The CSK team was given some respite after Lewis and Jaiswal were thrown out in the 6th and 7th overs, respectively. Jaiswal's blitz was ended by KM Asif after Shardul Thakur dismissed Lewis. CSK's success was eluded by Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube's combined efforts. As Samson put on 28 off 24 balls, Dube scored an unbeaten 64 off 42 balls with four fours and 4 sixes, targeting the CSK bowling. In the 16th over, Samson got out after Dube scored most of the runs. The pair added 89 runs together.
Phillips and Dube then joined up as Glenn Phillips made sure that RR crossed the finish line and gained two points. CSK began their innings briskly after Faf du Plessis and Gaikwad put them in. With 44 runs in the powerplay, CSK began their innings strong. In the seventh over, Rahul Tewatia's introduction to the attack allowed RR to get their first breakthrough when he stumped du Plessis. As Suresh Raina was scooped up in the deep, Tewatia collected his second wicket. Following Gaikwad's innings, Moeen Ali joined him, adding 57 runs together. CSK reached 100/2 in 14 overs with the help of these two.
A half-century, Gaikwad targeted Tewatia in over 15 for two sixes. The following over saw CSK lose their third wicket as Moeen was run for 21. In the 16th over, Gaikwad hit two fours and a six to take his score to 80 off 52 balls, while in the 14th over, Chetan Sakariya made RR happy with the ball, taking Rayudu out for RR. CSK crossed the 150-run mark in the next over after Jadeja and Gaikwad hit fours and sixes, respectively. Shakariya gave away 12 runs in the penultimate over. Jadeja hit two fours and a six in addition to a runoff wide in the final over, which saw CSK score 15 runs off three balls. He went on to make a well-deserved century with a maximum on the final ball.
