After beating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 42 runs in Game 55 in Abu Dhabi, Mumbai Indians (MI) ended their VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 campaign. MI won, with 84 runs from Ishan Kishan and 82 from Suryakumar Yadav respectively. Jason Roy and Abhishek Sharma put up an opening stand of 64 runs for SRH when they were chasing 236. Trent Boult picked off Roy in the powerplay for 34 as MI continued to succeed. In addition to Jimmy Neesham and Piyush Chawala taking three wickets for 36 runs, both dismissed Abhishek, Mohammad Nabi, and Abdul Samad.
In the absence of Kane Williamson, Priyam Garg was captaining the side in the absence of Manish Pandey. The pair added 56 runs together before Garg was out. MI restricted SRH to 193/8 in Manish's captaincy debut while battling through cramps. A 171-run win was necessary for MI to qualify for the playoffs, and Ishan Kishan hit his first six on the first ball of the innings. Siddarth Kaul bowled the next over, and he hit four fours. As he rumbled his way past 50 in 16 balls, the left-hander completed the fastest fifty of the VIVO IPL 2021. Mohammad Nabi's excellent catch off Rashid Khan ended Rohit's innings, but Ishan's 83, onslaught enabled MI to reach.
MI reached 112/1 with sixes from Ishan and Hardik Pandya in the eighth over, replacing Rohit at the crease. Jason Holder and Umran Malik, who dismissed Hardik and Ishan in the 9th and 10th overs, respectively, brought things back to a halt for the SRH. Suryakumar was the star of the show from then on. A powerful and stylish right-hander, he hammered 82 off 40 balls, including 13 fours and three sixes, as MI posted 235/9.
