Match 56 of the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 saw Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) edge out Delhi Capitals (DC) by wicket on Friday courtesy of a last-ball six by KS Bharat. In the final match of the league stage, RCB won by seven wickets after KS Bharat hit 78 off 52 balls and Glenn Maxwell hit 33 off 51 balls. After an unwelcome start, RCB lost Devdutt Padikkal in the first over and then Virat Kohli in the third, taking RCB to 6/2. KS Bharat and AB de Villiers rebuilt the RCB when the team was in need of help. As RCB reached fifty runs, the two put together a solid 49-run stand. De Villiers was subsequently dismissed in the 10th over by Axar Patel for 26.
As Maxwell and Bharat continued to score, the scoreboard ticked away. Maxwell was given opportunities to be castrated, but DC did not capitalize on them, and Maxwell benefited. RCB crossed the three-figure mark with Bharat and his fifty-run stand in the 15th over by getting two reprieves in the 14th over that also saw him hit two fours. RCB's wicketkeeper-batsman scored his first fifty of the IPL in the following over. In 18 overs, RCB was 146/3 with 19 runs needed from the final two overs, as the pair continued its solid performances with the bat.
As a result, RCB needed 15 runs to win in the final over, thanks to Nortje's 4-run penultimate over. As a result, Maxwell made his sixth fifty of the season off the first ball delivered by Avesh Khan in the last over. The Royal Challengers Bangalore were only able to score 3 runs from their next 3 legitimate deliveries.
In their last legitimate delivery, Avesh bowled a wide ball when they needed 6 runs. KS Bharat struck a six off the last ball and helped RCB complete an astonishing winning chase in Dubai. Thanks to Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw, DC made a solid start. In the powerplay, DC scored 55 runs as the two capitalized on every scoring opportunity. At halfway through DC's innings, the pair scored 33 runs in the next four overs, taking the total to 88/0.
Harshal Patel removed Dhawan in the 11th over for 43 to end the partnership for RCB. In the next two overs, Yuzvendra Chahal and Dan Christian both struck. Christian had the better of Rishabh Pant as Chahal got Shaw out for 48. Later, DC crossed the 140-run mark thanks to Shreyas Iyer and Shimron Hetmyer before the right-hander was bowled by Mohammed Siraj for 18 runs. DC posted 164/5 on the board as Hetmyer scored 29 off 22 balls.
