Delhi Capitals (DC) dominated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) eight wickets to win the 33rd match of the VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 on Tuesday in Dubai. Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw helped the DC race to victory after having to score 135 runs. Kane Williamson's spectacular running catch off Khaleel Ahmed dismissed Shaw to hand SRH their first success with the ball in the third over. The team was 39/1 after the powerplay when Shreyas Iyer replaced Shaw in the middle. During the eleventh over, the duo scored a fifty-run stand at a good pace.
They were both dismissed in the same over as Rashid Khan was able to dismiss Dhawan for 42 after Abdul Samad took a good catch in the deep. DC continued their charge after Pant and Iyer joined forces. Putting on an unbroken 67-run stand, the pair cruised to victory with 2.1 overs in hand. Iyer scored 47* while Pant hit 35* off 21 balls in a quickfire performance. David Warner was dismissed by Anrich Nortje in the first over of the innings after SRH decided to bat. The SRH wicketkeeper was dismissed for 18 in the fifth over by Kagiso Rabada after scoring 29 runs with Wriddhiman Saha. This was DC's second strike of the innings.
Following Saha's fall, Manish Pandey became Williamson's partner in the middle. SRH got to fifty after the pair continued to play and Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant granted Williamson two reprieves. SRH skipper Shimron Hetmyer managed to get out soon after getting caught off Axar Patel in the deep. As Pandey's wicket fell in the 11th over, Rabada recorded his second wicket of the match. Having accounted for my first two players of the night, Nortje then dealt with Kedar Jadhav, who was trapped at the wickets by Nortje. Jason Holder fell victim to Axar as DC kept chipping away. Rashid and Samad crossed the century mark together, adding 25 runs before Rabada dismisses Samad after he scores an important 28 runs. During the final over, Rashid struggled to contend with a score of 22 before he was run-out for 22.
