How India is Fighting Desertification and Drought?
The Union Minister also announced the commencement of a flagship initiative in India to improve capacity on forest landscape restoration (FLR) and the Bonn Challenge, which would be implemented over a 3.5-year pilot phase in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Nagaland, and Karnataka.
This flagship project, led by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) in collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), aims to develop and adopt best practices and monitoring protocols for Indian states, as well as build capacity in the five pilot states for the FLR and Bonn Challenge. Through the project's subsequent phases, this will be scaled out across the country.
