About Vande Bharat Express Train:
As of November 2022, Indian Railways operates the Vande Bharat Express, formerly known as Train 18, on five routes. The sixth Vande Bharat Express is slated to start service on December 11th. It was created and produced as part of the Make in India project by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), which is run by Sudhanshu Mani, in Perambur, Chennai. It took 18 months to build the first train. The first train's unit cost was anticipated to be INR 100 crore, and the first set of second-generation trains would cost INR 115 crore. The service changed its name to "Vande Bharat Express" on January 27, 2019.

There are 4 Versions or generation of Vande Bharat Express Train. Currently there are two generation/ version of the Vande Bharat Express are running in India and other two version are under development. Here are the different generation or version of Vande Bharat Train –
Vande Bharat (VB1): The exterior of the Vande Bharat Express features an aerodynamic shape to lessen air resistance at high speeds. It has a driver cabin at either end, making ending stations' turnaround times quicker.
Vande Bharat Express Train have16 passenger cars and a seating capacity of 1,128 persons, the trainset has a weight of 430 tons. Two of the center compartments are first class with 52 seats each, and the remaining compartments are coach with 78 seats apiece.
A coach's chassis measures 23 meters in length, and the train's frame is composed entirely of stainless steel. To provide an equitable distribution of power and faster acceleration and deceleration, alternate coaches are motorized.
In order to improve accessibility between coaches and lower noise, the cars are joined and completely sealed. The train has bio-vacuum restrooms, rotatable seats that may be positioned in the direction of travel, GPIS-based passenger information systems, and more (only in executive class). The Vande Bharat uses regenerative braking.
The Vande Bharat is capable of travelling at a top speed of 180 km/h. In 54.6 seconds, it can accelerate to 100 km/h, and in 145 seconds, it can achieve its top speed. Televisions measuring 24 inches are installed in trains as the passenger entertainment and information system. Electrical components in the train's undercarriage can resist floods of up to 40 centimeters.
Vande Bharat 2 (VB2): VB2 trains can reach a speed of 100 km/h in 52 seconds as opposed to 54.6 seconds for the earlier model to achieve the same speed. Compared to the earlier generation Vande Bharat, the train can accelerate to 160 km/h in 140 seconds. The weight of VB2 is considerably lower at 392 tons as comparative to 430 tons for VB1.
Larger 32-inch televisions and Wi-Fi are available onboard trains. Compared to the original Vande Bharat trainset, the VB2's air conditioning system uses 15% less electricity. Other enhancements in VB2 include touch-free sliding doors, automatic plug doors, accessible restrooms, emergency communication units, a roomier driver's cabin, and reclining seats in every coach.
The redesigned rakes will have a push-back arrangement for smooth reclining to alleviate the seat reclining concerns of the previous iteration. The Kavach train protection system is installed in VB2.
On September 9, 2022, the Vande Bharat 2 (VB2) trial runs were concluded. On September 30, 2022, the first VB2 rake went into operation. Indian Railways has bought 102 VB2 trainsets in all. Four VB2s have already been constructed as of October 2022, and by the 15th of August 2023, about 40 Vande Bharat 2 Trains will have been delivered.
Vande Bharat 3 (VB3): In comparison to the VB2, the VB3 is anticipated to be lighter, more energy-efficient, and offer improved passenger comforts. The coaches on half of the VB3 trainsets are composed of steel, whereas the coaches on the other half have articulated bogies and are made of aluminum.
Sleeper coaches will be made their debut with the Vande Bharat 3 trainset. There will be three classes: AC-1, AC-2, and AC-3. The VB3 is anticipated to have a top speed of 180 km/h and a 35-year design life.
Vande Bharat 4 (VB4): The top speed of the fourth-generation Vande Bharat trains will be 200 km/h. Aluminum alloy, a lightweight material, will be used to create VB4 coaches. The VB4 is anticipated to have upgraded passenger comforts such 3-pin and USB power sockets for each passenger, zero discharge bathroom systems, and wheelchair accessibility features.
Additionally, the VB4 will be equipped with a cow guard that can withstand collisions with animals weighing up to 600 kg and prevents animals from being swept under the train in the case of an impact. The majority of VB4 trainsets are anticipated to be tilting trains, marking India's first commercial use of the technology. In service entry of the first VB4 rake is anticipated for 2026.
