Umaid Bhawan palace is located in a smart city of Rajasthan which is also known as Blue City or Sun City, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India. Rajasthan is India's largest and  diverse State, is famous all over the world for its environment, geographical, surroundings, beautiful palaces and Forts. Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur Rajasthan is one of the most expensive and beautiful palaces in India, which was built by Maharaja Umaid Singh. The Construction of this expensive palace lasted from 1928 to 1943.The entire credit for the construction of Umaid Bhawan goes to Maharaja Umaid Singh.

 

The History of the construction of this all world famous palace is a related to the curse of a Saint who in anger turned the Curse of famine and pestilence to the Rathore dynasty here. After which, in the 1920s, Jodhpur faced a famine for three consecutive years. Due to the famine the Local people urged the then King to provide employment, after which the King thought of constructing a ground palace for which the planned renowned architect Henry Von Lunchester Called and Commissioned it.

 

The construction of this palace took the cooperation of the locals from 2000 to 3000. This palace is one of the largest palaces in India, it is built on an area of about 26 acres of land with 15 acres of gardens. It has about 347 large rooms, Several spacious Courtyards and a large banquet hall (fast table), which can  accomodate more than 300 people simultaneously.

Hence, it has a throne room, Darbar Hall, Private Dining Hall, Ballroom, Library, Indoor Swimming pool and many more features, being atop Chittar Hill, this beautiful palace is also known as a "Chittar palace". It is a perfect example of the Indian architectural style and Deco- Kala. This Beautiful palace remains open for visitors all days of the week. However, the palace museum is closed on Sunday. Day time to visit this palace 6:00 am. to 6:00 pm.

 

How to Reach: District buses from Delhi and Jaipur made road connectivity with Jodhpur convenient. Government run Volvo Coaches  as well as numerous are available in this route. Trains from places like Delhi Mumbai, Chennai,Kolkata and Jaipur and several others serve the city to Jodhpur.

 

Jodhpur has its own domestic airport, which is located 5km from the City Center. Cabs and autos are available outside the Airport and can be hired from Railways Station and Bus Stops to travel to any part of the city.
