Bhilwara is the city in the Mewar region of Rajasthan, also known as the textile city of India. It is bounded by Ajmer district from north, Bundi district from east, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Madhya Pradesh from south and Rajsamand district from west. This city is also known as Manchester of Rajasthan and this is one of the biggest textile producer of Rajasthan.
There is no natural lake in the district but there are a number of ponds and dams so the district is the most irrigated in the state of Rajasthan. It has a small man-made pond Manserowar Jheel (Pond). Bhilwara has a total area of 10,508 km2 and its rank is 7 in Rajasthan. Bhilwara has a population of 24,10,459 out of which 78.72% belong to rural areas & 21.28% belong to urban areas .
A tribe known as Bheel helped Maharana Pratap in war against Mughal Empire Akbar, this tribe used to live in Bhilwara region. That area came to be known as Bheel+Baada (Bheel's area) Bhilwara. Over the years it has emerged out as one of the major cities of Rajasthan. Bhilwara is also known as the textile city in the country.
The major industries belong to the Textile sector, with more than 850 manufacturing units in the town. The mainly produced textile product is synthetic fabric used in trousers. It began with a spinning and knitting company named Mewar Textile Mills, owned by industrialist Shri Sampatmal Lodha, started in 1938. Thereafter Shri Laxmi Niwas Jhunjhunwala started his first unit for synthetic textile in 1961 at Bhilwara. After that Bhilwara witnessed the rise of the textile industry empire.
Some historical places of Bhilwara:
Mandalgarh Fort: Bhilwara is believed to have been built by Rana Kumbha and it is the 3rd fort of Mewar region. This fort is situated on a part of Aravali hill range.
Badnore Fort: It is situated at Asind road and distance is 70 km from Bhilwara.
Harni Mahadev, Chamunda Mata Mandir,Adhar Shila, Mahadev,Mandakini Mandir are some of the most famous temples of Bhilwara.
There are some places where one can enjoy or feel nature. Meja dam is one of the biggest dams of the district, Triveni Sangam this is the holy place. It is sangam of three rivers Banas, Bedach, Menal etc.

Eco Park Hamirgarh: This eco- park situated at hills of Hamirgarh is 18 km from Bhilwara. This park is famous for 'Chinkara'.
