The difference between being Literate, Educated and Intelligent

The difference between being Literate, Educated and Intelligent

There is a thin line difference between these three terms but it makes a huge difference. The literal meaning of being literate is to be able to read and write. Anyone who can read and write is literate but not educated.  Because being educated means having undergone education. An educated man is literate but a person who is only literate cannot be educated. Let’s have a look at this example, a kid who knows the meaning of a carrot (it means he/she is literate) but if he/she does not know about the vitamins and protein it includes it means he/she is not educated.

For being educated one has to follow a process, like in India one has to complete his/her primary and secondary education than his/her graduation to get a particular degree. But for being literate one doesn’t have to follow this, if you know the basic reading and writing then you are literate.

Intelligence, the literal meaning is having good understanding or a high mental

capacity,  quick to comprehend. Education gives us information but the way one uses this information is known as intelligence. Like in management programmes you learn various chapters. For example, one of the important chapters is Principles of Management it includes all the principles in which an organisation can find its solutions. The intelligence of a person can be known by the way he/she applies the principles to the respective problems.

One can be intelligent without being educated. One can even be intelligent without being literate, but this would be difficult.
