State Emblem and Symbol of Ladakh

Ladakh-1 A Brief Introduction About Ladakh:

  • Ladakh's inhabitants have been calling for its independence as a separate territory since the 1930s.
  • The Indian Parliament enacted a reorganization act in August 2019 that included measures to rebuild Ladakh as a union territory, apart from the rest of Jammu and Kashmir, effective October 31, 2019. Ladakh is India's highest plateau, with the majority of it rising beyond 3,000 meters.
  • It stretches from the Himalayas to the Kunlun Ranges and encompasses the upper Indus River valley. Ladakh is built on the Indus River.
  • The Indus River runs through most of the important historical and modern towns, including Shey, Leh, Basgo, and Tingmosgang.
  • The Zanskar River, along with its tributaries, is the region's principal river.
  • During the winter, the Zanskar freezes, and the famed Chadar trek takes place on this spectacular frozen river.
