Rajasthan Police Day History /Rajasthan Police Foundation Day History:
Following India's independence in August 1947, the country's 563 princely provinces gradually merged into various administrative homogeneous units. On March 18, 1948, the Matsya Union was the first to be established in which the princely states of Alwar, Dholpur, Bharatpur, and Karauli were there. After a week later the princely states of Dungarpur, Jhalawar, Banswara, Bundi, Pratapgarh, Shahpura, Tonk, Kishangarh, Kushalgarh, Kota, and Udaipur were also unified to form Vrihat Rajasthan. They merged to form Greater Rajasthan, which was officially established on March 31, 1949, by India's Home Minister, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.
The police forces of Rajasthan's princely states were unified in April 1949. The Rajasthan Police Force amalgamated on April 16, 1949. Rajasthan's former princely states differed greatly in size, population, revenue resources, administrative procedures, and practices. This manifested itself in the composition and capability of the security forces they were keeping for law-and-order functions. When these princely states were amalgamated, their law enforcement forces were also combined into a single force known as Rajasthan Police.
Though the process began straight away following independence, it was not until 1956 that all of the states came together to form the current Rajasthan. The Rajasthan Police was initially supervised by authorities on deputation, and the very first Inspector General of Police was Shri R. Banerji, who took over on April 7, 1949. Shri Banerji held this position for seven months, during which time he spent the majority of his time preparing for the integration of the various police forces.
In the Rajasthan Police Regulations, he drew up a uniform police code for the entire state of Rajasthan. The Rajasthan Police Service was established in January 1951, with officers appointed from across the state. The Rajasthan Police, as we know it today, was born from this.

Programs on Rajasthan Police Day 2023:
The Rajasthan Police was founded on April 16th. To celebrate this, the 6-day programs began at the Jaipur Police Headquarters. DGP Umesh Mishra launched Curtain Razor at the Jaipur Police Headquarters.
While speaking at the curtain raiser event for Rajasthan Police Foundation Day at the police headquarters, DGP Umesh Mishra stated that on this occasion, policemen will be awarded the Ati-Uttam Seva Medal at the range level and the Uttam Seva Medal at the district level. The Inspector General at the range level and the District Superintendents of Police at the district level will also award DGP discs.
Program on April 14, 2023: The RAC Police Band will Perform at City Park, Mansarovar on April 14, 2023, from 6 -7 PM.
Program on April 15, 2023: The RAC Police Band will Perform at Central Park, Jaipur on April 15, 2023, from 6 -7 PM.
Program on April 16, 2023: On April 16, the program's main guest will be Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. This event will take place on April 16th at 8:30 a.m. at the Rajasthan Police Academy. On the occasion of the Rajasthan Police Foundation Day, a parade will be held.
Program on April 17, 2023: A seminar will be organized on the topic Indian Police: Present Day Challenges and Road Map for The Future at the Rajasthan Police Academy Auditorium on 17th April at 10 am. The seminar will be addressed by retired IPS officers – former CRPF DGP K. Vijay Kumar, former Maharashtra DGP D. Sivanandhan, and Security Advisor Shantanu Mukherjee. On April 17, a big dinner will be organized at the RPA stadium at 7 pm.
Program on April 18, 2023: The Rajasthan Police Academy Auditorium will host a seminar on Tackling Cyber Crime Police Community Outreach and the Launch of the Rajasthan Police Hackathon Portal on April 18 at 10 a.m. This seminar will be addressed by retired IPS officer Manoj Abraham, ADGP Kerala, Sanjay Shah, Founder Tech Conpro, Dr. Somitra Sanadhya, Professor IIT Jodhpur, and Ankur Tripathi, CIO AU Small Finance Bank.

Women in Rajasthan Police:
Previously, the district police investigated cases involving women's issues, such as dowry demands, unlawful traffic in women and girls, rape, eve-teasing, and so on. However, there was a need to open Police Stations led by female officers, so the first Mahila Police Station was inaugurated in March 1989 in Jaipur. Currently, there are approximately 40 women's Police stations in Rajasthan.
Cases filed at these police stations are investigated by female officers. In addition, a cell in the CID (Crime Branch) led by a Superintendent of Police has been established to better supervise and monitor these cases. Similarly, women's cells have been established in 43 district headquarters to improve coordination at the district level.

Following passing the exam, trainee recruits are sent to Rajasthan Police Academy Jaipur and RPTC for training. These training institutions are regulated by the Rajasthan Service Rules. After finishing the training candidates are sent to any one of the nine organizational units - Crime Branch, Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC), State Special Branch, Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), Planning and Welfare, Training, Forensic Science Laboratory, Telecommunications, and Traffic Police are some of the departments.
