About Rahi Sarnobat:
Rahi Sarnobat is an Indian Athlete who participates in 25 meters Pistol Shooting Events. Rahi Sarnobat is the first Indian who won a gold medal at Asian Games for India.
Early Life and Family of Rahi Sarnobat:
Rahi’s full name is Rahi Jeevan Sarnobat. Jeevan Sarnobat and Prabha Sarnobat are the parents of Rahi Sarnobat. Rahi Sarnobat was born on October 30th 1990 at Kolhapur, Maharashtra. She was introduced to this sport in the early days of the student’s life as part of NCC training. As she was drawn towards the Shooting she decided to get trained in Mumbai as not enough facilities were available at Kolhapur. She admires and is influenced by Tejaswini Sawant- 50 mt Rifle Pro World Champion.
Biography of Rahi Sarnobat:
Born and brought up in Kolhapur Rahi Sarnobat has to move to Pune for her training in 24 meters Pistol Shooting. Rahi Sarnobat performed well in the Commonwealth and Youth Games in 2010 and won Gold Medal in 25 meters Pistol Shooting. Later she participated in World Cup Shootin Event where she won a bronze medal. This Bronze medal ensure her entry to the London Olympics 2012 and became the first-ever Indian Shooter who qualifies in 25 meters Pistol Shooting category at Olympics. Rahi Sarnobat was the first Indian Pistol shooter who won a Gold Medal in the ISSF World Cup in Changwon. In 2015 she met with an accident. It was a big setback for Rahi Sarnobat as she damaged her elbow. She took 2 years to recover fully from her Elbow injury, but she never loses hope. She again got selected in the Indian team where with the help of German Coach Munkhbayar Dorjsuren she got back her physical and mental strength back. Rahi Sarnobat won a gold medal at Munich World Cup 2019 in 25 meters Pistol Shooting and got selected for the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
