If anyone follows Indian Boxing then he knows who is Pooja Rani? Pooja Rani is a middleweight Indian boxer. Pooja Rani has won many national and international boxing competitions. She was the first Indian to qualify for Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Pooja Rani's Early Life and Family:
Full name of Pooja Rani is Pooja Rani Bura. Pooja Rani was born on 17 February 1991 in Nimriwali, Bhiwani district of Haryana. His father's name is Rajbir Singh and her mother's name is Damayanti Devi. On the insistence of a college teacher's wife, Pooja first tried her hand at boxing. At that time, she was too shy to even wear gloves. After some time, she joined the Hawa Singh Academy at Bhiwani. She joined this academy without consulting her father as he was against her Boxing. HE was against it because of the injuries and aggressive nature if the sport. In her early days of boxing, she was trained under Sanjay Singh. Later her parents came around can support her in her Boxing Journey.
Boxing Career of Pooja Rani:
Pooja Rani won her first title in 2009 when she defeated a popular Haryana Boxer in State Championship. In this match, her opponent was Preeti Beniwal. She won the Youth Champion title and later she won a Silver Medal at National Youth Championship in the 60kg category.
After that, she never looked back and moves forward into the boxing world where she has won a Silver Medal in the Asian Boxing Championship in 2012 and she qualified for the Rio Olympics 2016 at Rio. But she lost at the Women’s World Championship Match in 2016 and due to this her qualification for the Rio Olympics was suspended.
In 2017 during the Diwali celebration, she burnt her hand stayed away from boxing for six months. Just coming back from this injury and she started training again and got a shoulder injury this time, which led her to change her weight category to 81 kg.
After coming out of these injuries she has won at ASBC Asian Championship a gold medal. She defeated Wang Lina from China.
