NaharGarh Fort is Located in the city of Jaipur (Krishna Nagar Brahmpuri, Jaipur) in the state of Rajasthan, the NaharGarh fort is situated on the edge of the Arawali Hills, near Amer and Jaigarh forts. Originally the name of this fort was Sudarshan Garh but it is known as NaharGarh which means “Abode of Tiger”.
NaharGarh Fort was established by a king named Naharsingh Bhomia. Nahar Singh Bhomiya,whose spirit haunted the place and obstructed the construction of the fort. For this reason, his soul was pacified by building a temple on the back side of the fort,which is today known as Nahargarh Fort.
As a result of its high fortification, the Nahargarh Fort has thick walls made of red sandstone.Nahargarh wall length is 3 kilometers and a width is 1 km.
History of NaharGarh Fort
Nahargarh Fort , mainly attached to the walls of jaigarh fort Jaipur. Built in 1734 by Maharaja Swai Jai Singh, the king of Jaipur, the fort was constructed as a place of retreat on the summit of the ridge above the city. Walls extended over the surrounding hills, forming fortifications that connected this fort to Jaigarh, the fort above the old capital of Amber. The treaties with the Maratha forces who warred with Jaipur in the 18th century.
During the Indian Mutiny of 1857, the Europeans of the region, including the British Resident’s wife, were moved to Nahargarh fort by the king of Jaipur, Swai Ram Singh, for their protection. In 1868, the fort was renovated and extended by Swai Ram Singh, the then king of Jaipur. During the period from 1883 to 1892, several palaces were added to the fort at a huge cost of around 3,50,000 rupees. Seprate suits were built within the fort for the royal women and the king. Till 1944, the Jaipur State Government used to fire a gunshot from this fort as a time signal for the whole city.
Some Scences in the movies Rang De Basanti, Shuddh Desi Romance and Sonar Killa were shot at Nahargarh Fort. Nahargarh Fort is very nice palace for films shootings.

1. Nahargarh Biological Park -
At Nahargarh Fort many tourist palaces are located but one of most is the Nahargarh biological park. The Nahargarh Biological park is spread across 7.2Square kilometers inside the fort. It has an Asiatic Lion, Bengal Tiger and Indian leopard with other animals in addition to 286species of birds
2. Wax Museum –
At Nahargarh Fort inside located a museum also named Jaipur Wax Museum. It was inaugurated in 2016 and consisted of more than 30 wax statues.They all belong to famous personalities in fields like Bollywood, Space, Sports, Politics etc. Statues of Amitabh Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Deepika Padukone and Kalpna Chawla are also there. Every figure has a different background related to that personality, Besides.
3. Sheesh Mahal –
Sheesh Mahal , or the palace of Mirrors, is housed inside the Jaipur Wax Museum at the fort. Sheesh Mahal really is a beautiful Palace inside the Nahargarh Fort. Becouse it is decorated with 2.5 million glass Pieces in different shapes, sizes and colours. It also contains floral motifs,handmade paintings, and omate chandeliers. Sheesh Mahal name included in all India’s big and beautiful Palace.
4. Madhvendra Bhawan –
Madhvendra Bhawan was built by a great king Swai Madho Singh, serving as a summer destination for the royal family. It has two stories with different quarters for the king and his beautiful Queen’s. It has 12 boundoirs built in the same manner. Here all walls and all over corridors which connect them are also decorated and delicated murals also.

Padao -
Padao is an Open-Air restaurant and a unit of RTDC Ltd. Padao is one of the most popular open-air restaurants in Jaipur. On the west side of Nahargarh fort, it lies within the fort's boundaries. The entry fee for Padao is Rs. 50, along with a complimentary drink. In Padao, the public is welcome between 2:00 pm and 10:00 pm.
Here you can find a variety of snacks and drinks. Padao is a licensed bar and serves almost all whiskeys, rums, vodkas, gins, wines, and beers. In spite of the fact that Padao does not offer lunch or dinner for individuals, the restaurant does organize a Gala dinner if a minimum of 50 people is ordered in advance.

Nahargarh Fort is located about 20 kilometers from Jaipurs Bus Stand and Railways Station. Public transport facility is not available in the area.Therefore hiring a private cab is best option for first visit.

Yes, Tourists can visit Nahargarh Fort at Night too but they won’t be able to visit the whole Fort as Fort closes at 5.30 PM. So, tourists can visit the outer area of the Nahargarh Fort only. For the safety of the visitors’ local police is also there till 10.00 PM. If you are planning to drink (alcohol) after reaching there or already had some drinks then we will advise you to not visit Nahargarh Fort at all because the road to Nahargarh is Hilly and many accidents due to drunk driving took place during the night.

A Cycling Tour of Nahargarh Fort
The Nahargarh Fort is located at an altitude of 700 feet above sea level, which makes it one of the less accessible cycling destinations, but its stunning setting in the Aravalli Mountains is well worth the effort. There is no better place from which to see the sunrise and sunset over the city than from the top of the hill. An advanced level of fitness and some skills are required for this challenging route up and downhill.
Starting at Jal Mahal, one can cycle along Kanak Vrindavan Ghati and then pass nearby Jaigarh Fort and end at Nahargarh Fort. A journey from Jal Mahal to Nahargarh Fort takes about 11 km.
