Jor Mela (May 3rd to May 5th): Gurdwara Sri Reetha Sahib, located at the confluence of the Lodhiya and Ratiya rivers, is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Sikhs. In the year 1501, Guru Nanak Dev and his disciples paid a visit to Reetha Sahib. Guru Nanak is said to have blessed a Reetha (soap nut) tree with sweet reetha to feed his hungry disciple Mardana. The Jod festival has been held for over 500 years and begins with a series of Guru Granth Sahib recitations. Visitors to the Gurudwara are given sweet reetha (soap nut) prasad.
