4. Indian Fair and Festivals in July 2023

Guru Purnima (July 3rd): The Guru has been given a higher status than God in Indian culture and tradition. The Guru shines the light of education and knowledge into the life of the disciple and paves the way for their disciple to advance. As one of the most significant days in Sanatana Dharma, Guru Purnima is highly significant to Hindus. The purpose of this festive is to recognise the significance of the teacher or guru.

On this auspicious day, people worship the Guru. According to the Drik Panchang, Guru Purnima is observed on Purnima Tithi (Full Moon Day) in the Ashadha month. Guru Purnima will be observed this year on July 3, 2023.

Parkash Purab Sri Guru Hargobind Singh Ji (July 5th): On Monday, June 5, 2023, Indian people will celebrate Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji Parkash Gurpurab. Guru Arjan Dev Ji's only child was the sixth guru, Hargobind. He started a Sikh militia tradition following the martyrdom of his father.

Due to his father's execution and possibly to safeguard the Sikh community, Guru Hargobind Sahib introduced the militarization of Sikhism. Two swords that stood for "MIRI" and "PIRI" (temporal power and spiritual authority), respectively, were worn by him as a symbol of this. The enlightenment of his followers' spirits was another important concern for Guru Hargobind Sahib. In addition, he focused on bringing about social change and populace reforms.

Hariyali Amavasya (July 17th): For plantations and ancestor shradh, the Shravan/Sawan month's Hariyali Amavasya is special. The Hariyali Amavasya falls on Krishna Paksha in the Shravan month. Hariyali Amavasya will be observed on July 17 this year. This day is also known as "Environmental Protection Day" in many regions of the nation. On this day, specifically, worship of Bholenath is performed because Lord Shankar loves the month of Shravan.
