August 1st to 7th: World Breastfeeding Week – In order to promote breastfeeding, which has a number of health benefits for newborns, breastfeeding week is celebrated.

August 6th: Hiroshima Day – On August 6th, in remembrance of the bombing of Hiroshima by an atomic bomb in 1945, Hiroshima Day is honored annually. Maintaining this day is mostly done to advance politics and peace.

August 7th: National Handloom Day – On August 7th of each year, National Handloom Day is observed. The Swadeshi Movement started on this day in 1905, hence it is commemorated on that day. August 9th: Nagasaki Day – Three days after Hiroshima, on August 9, 1945, the US unleashed the second nuclear bomb on Nagasaki. Tendong Lho Rum Faat (August 8th) – The Lepcha Tribe of Sikkim celebrates the Tendong festival, which is one of their oldest, most significant, and most important festivals. Located in northeast India, the Lepcha tribe. The name "Rongkup" for the Lepcha people in their native tongue translates to "the children of God." In Sikkim, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kurseong, and other places, their tribes are primarily settled. The hike up to Tendong Hill is one of the festival's main highlights.

Independence Day of India (August 15th) – India will mark its 76th anniversary of independence on August 15, this year. This day serves as a reminder of all the hardships our freedom fighters endured in order to free India from British rule.

Hariyali Teej (August 19th) – The Hariyali Teej festival will be observed on August 19, 2023, according to the Hindu Panchang. The Hariyali Teej festival is observed on Shukla Paksha Tritiya in the lunar month of Shravan, which typically falls two days before Nag Panchami.

The festival's name, Hariyali Teej, refers to the season's pleasant weather and lush surroundings. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are worshipped on Hariyali Teej. Every year, married women fast during Hariyali Teej to pray for their husbands' long lives, happy marriages, and success in love and the relationship.

Onam/ Thiruvonam (August 29th) – In Kerala, the Onam festival is observed during the Chingam month. The festival honours Vishnu's Vamana avatar's appearance and the legendary King Mahabali's subsequent return home. Atham marked the beginning of Onam, and Thiruvonam will mark its end.

On Thursday, August 29, Thiruvonam marks the conclusion of the Onam festival. In the state of Kerala, Onam is an extremely popular celebration, and it is observed annually in August and September. Additionally, it is a significant harvest festival.

Raksha Bandhan (August 30th) – One of the greatest and most virtuous human emotions is the pure love shared between a brother and a sister. This emotional bonding is celebrated by tying a holy thread around the wrist on Raksha Bandhan, also known as Rakhi. Rakhi, which literally translates to "a bond of protection," is the appropriate name for this thread, which throbs with sisterly love and sublime sentiments.
