ICC T20 Men’s Cricket World Cup Schedule and Teams
Pic Credit: Official Website of T20 World CupThe eighth edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup is set to take place in Australia from October 16 through November 13, 2022. Originally scheduled to take place in 2020, the event was announced to have been postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in July 2020.
The T20 World Cup was originally set to take place in India in 2021,[8] but was later shifted to the UAE and Oman, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC), which also stated that Australia will host the rescheduled competition in 2022. The ICC confirmed every matchup for the competition on January 21, 2022. Australia, the hosts, is also the reigning champion.
Qualification and Teams for T20 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2022:
The 12 nations that advanced to the Super 12 round of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2021 automatically qualified for the 2022 competition.
Based on their performances in the 2021 tournament and their rankings as of 15 November 2021, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and South AFRICA all automatically qualified for the Super 12 phase of this tournament.
Namibia, Scotland, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies were all allocated spots in the competition's group stage. The top two teams from each of the two Global Qualifiers took the final four spots.
The sixteen teams competing in the Global Qualifiers were the eight teams that advanced from the Regional Finals, the bottom four teams from the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup (Ireland, Netherlands, Oman, and Papua New Guinea), and the next four highest ranked T20I teams (Zimbabwe, Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, and Singapore). Ireland and the United Arab Emirates qualified for the T20 World Cup from the Global Qualifier, A competition.
The UAE, which took first place in Global Qualifier A, was sent to the T20 World Cup's Group A, while Ireland was assigned to Group B. The Netherlands and Zimbabwe were the last two teams to earn a spot in the T20 World Cup after the Global Qualifier B round. The Netherlands was placed in Group A of the T20 World Cup, while Zimbabwe won the Global Qualifier B round.
