Bollywood or Hindi Entertainment Industry:

Bollywood The Hindi-language film business in India is centered in Mumbai and is commonly referred to as Bollywood or Bombay cinema. Bollywood is a combination of the words "Bombay" and "Hollywood," and is a common moniker for mainstream Hindi films. The sector is a part of the wider Indian film industry, which includes the Cinema of South India and other Indian film industries. The majority of feature films worldwide are made in India.

Filmfare Awards: The Filmfare Awards are among the most prestigious honors presented to Hindi cinema in India. The awards were first named the Clare Awards after the magazine's editor when they were established in 1954 by the Indian film magazine Filmfare.

National Film Awards: In 1954, the first National Film Awards were presented. Since 1973, the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF) of India has given out awards that are funded by the Indian government. Dadasaheb Phalke Award: The greatest honor in Indian cinema is the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, which was established in 1969. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting established the Directorate of Film Festivals, which gives out the award each year during the National Film Awards ceremony. A committee made up of prominent figures from the Indian film industry chooses the recipient, who is recognized for their "great contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema. Along with a shawl and one million rupees in cash, the reward consists of a medal named Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus).

Screen Awards: The Indian Express Group's Screen magazine, which specializes in movies, first presented the awards in 1995. In 2015, Star India bought the publication, which was later shut down. The Star Screen Awards are still sponsored by Star India, nonetheless.

Zee Cine Awards: Zee Cine Awards started in 1998.

IIFA: An annual awards ceremony is held in honor of the International Indian Film Academy Awards, or IIFA. Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. is the company that produces it. Raja Harishchandra (1913): In 1913, Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema, released the first-ever full-length feature film, "Raja Harishchandra." Commercially, the first silent Hindi movie did well. Dadasaheb served as the director, writer, cameraman, editor, makeup artist, and art director in addition to being the producer.

Alam Ara (1931): The first talkie Hindi movie in India was Alam Ara.

Kollywood Tamil cinema, often known as Kollywood, is an Indian film industry that produces films in the Tamil language. The name is a combination of Kodambakkam and Hollywood and is based in the Kodambakkam neighborhood of Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

R. Nataraja Mudaliar created Keechaka Vadham, the first silent Tamil film, in 1918.

Kalidas, a multilingual motion picture directed by H M Reddy, debuted on October 31, 1931, as the first talkie Tamil Movie.

Tollywood Telugu cinema, commonly referred to as Tollywood, is a subgenre of Indian cinema that focuses on the creation of films in the Telugu language, which is mainly spoken in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Film Nagar, a district of Hyderabad, India, is where Telugu cinema is centered. A combination of the phrases Telugu and Hollywood, the moniker Tollywood was created. In terms of box office receipts, it has grown to become India's largest film industry by 2022.

Raghupathi Venkaiah is known as the "Father of Telugu Cinema."

The first silent Telugu film was "Bhishma Pratigna", released in 1921. The movie was directed by Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu and his son R. S. Prakash.

The first talkie Telugu movie, "Kalidas", a multilingual motion film directed by H M Reddy, premiered on October 31, 1931.

Mollywood Mollywood is another name for the Indian film business that produces movies in the Malayalam language. Its headquarters are in Kerala, India. The films of Malayalam cinema are recognized for their realistic plotlines and cinematography.

Vigathakumaran was the first Silent Malayalam movie ever made. J. C. Daniel, a businessman without any prior filmmaking experience and known as the Father of Malayalam Cinema, produced and directed it. Additionally, this film is the first social drama feature from India. It is a lost movie because there isn't a copy of it.

Balan, which debuted in 1938, was the first talkie Malayalam movie.

Sandalwood Kannada cinema, commonly known as Sandalwood or Chandanavana, is the section of Indian film that is devoted to the creation of motion pictures in the Kannada language.

An adaptation of the play "Mricchakatika" (Vasantsena) served as the basis for the first silent movie produced by the Kannada cinema industry in 1931.

The first talkie Kannada movie was Sati Sulochana (1934), which was directed by Y. V. Rao.

According to reports, the Kannada film industry ranked fourth in India in terms of gross domestic box office receipts from January to July 2022 with an 8% market share.

Pollywood Often known as Pollywood, Punjabi cinema is a genre of Indian Cinema centered around Amritsar and Mohali in the Indian state of Punjab.

"Daughters of Today", the first silent Punjabi film, was released in 1924 in Lahore.

As the first Punjabi talkie film, Heer Ranjha, originally titled Hoor Punjab, was produced by Hakim Ram Prasad in 1932.
