History of Gagron Fort:

It was built in the 12th century by Dod Maharaj Bijaldev (Parmar) near 'Samelji' at the confluence of the Ahu and Kalisindh rivers, 13 kilometers away from Jhalawar district of the Indian state of Rajasthan. Gagron Fort is one of the ancient forts of Rajasthan. According to some great historians, the construction of this fort continued from the seventh century to the fourteenth century. But after the 12th century, Khichi Rajputs ruled here for 300 years and the descendants of these Khichi Rajputs live in the estates adjacent to the Dara forest like Balku, Bakhspura, etc. This famous ancient fort of Rajasthan is also known as Dhulargarh or Dodgarh.

This fort is surrounded by the waters of Ahu and Kali Sindh rivers on two sides and hills on the other side. Gagron Fortress was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Site in June 2013. After the rule of the Khichi dynasty for 300 years from the 12th century, Allauddin Khilji attacked the fort in the thirteenth century which was thwarted by Raja Jaitsingh Khichi. After that from 1338 AD to 1368 AD. Till then Raja Pratap Rao ruled the Gagars and made this place a prosperous princely state. After this, he became a monk and came to be known as 'Raja Sant Pipa'. A famous monastery in his name is still established in Dwarka, Gujarat state.

By the middle of the fourteenth century, Gagron Fort had become a prosperous principality. This was the reason that when the Muslim infiltrator rulers of Malwa looked at this fort, in 1423 AD, the Muslim ruler Hoshang Shah, along with his army of thirty thousand and many other rich kings, surrounded this fort from all sides and victory over it. Taxed and taken into his empire.
