Apple WWDC 2021: Highlights of the Apple’s Event

WWDC is an event held by Apple Inc. annually it is an information technology conference. Here WWDC stands for “WORLDWIDE DEVELOPERS CONFERENCE”. This year this event will be held from 7th of June to 11th of June. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this event was live-streamed and it was free for anyone who wanted to take part in it. It was live-streamed on Apple Website, Apple TV app, Apple Developer App, and on YouTube at Apple Official Channel.

On day one of WWDC 2021, Apple made numerous announcements during the keynote which includes some new updates and services which will be offered by Apple. At the keynote Apples CEO, Tim Cook announced the major developments Apples has done on its software.

Here we will talk about the highlight of the events-

Apple WWDC 2021 - FaceTime:

Apple has announced at WWDC 2021 that when iOS 15 updates, FaceTime will support Windows and Android as well. Users will be able to generate a FaceTime call link, which they can share with the people they want to talk to, people using Windows and Android will be able to join FaceTime calls using a web browser. With this major update, FaceTime will also get Spatial Audio, Portrait Mode and Grid View. A new SharePlay feature has also been added so users can virtually watch and listen to content with others. Apple will also release the SharePlay API for developers to develop an app that can support this feature.

Apple WWDC 2021 - macOS Monterey:

macOS 12 will be now officially known as Monterey. It is going to bring many new features including Universal Control, using this user will be able to use the same mouse and keyboard to control a Mac and an iPad. With an update for Mac, its Shortcuts app will also be introduced. Along with this user will also have access to AirPlay the content from their iPhone, iPad, or even a Mac to a mac display. Safari web browser is also redesigned with some new features.

Apple WWDC 2021 - WatchOS 8:

Apple’s WatchOS 8 is also bringing some new features such as Breath App has included new animations, reflect to help you focus and aid psychological well-being, respiratory rate through sleep monitor. Fitness App also included some new features – New workouts modes, fitness plus content, artist spotlight series. WatchOS 8 will bring some changes to its UI too like a Portrait watch face, redesigned photos app, share photos via message or mail, GIF support etc.

Apple WWDC 2021 -  iPadOS 15:

The all-new iPadOS 15 is also going to bring a lot of new features with it. There will some huge updates on the security front that will be seen on an iPadOS 15. Whenever we will use Mail and Safari then location and IP address will be hidden for the protection of the user from the trackers. App Privacy Report will be a new setting to view the apps with access to private details. Now Siri will be work without any internet to boost performance to protect the user’s privacy and for device security.

• The Widget will be now in a Larger Format, there will be Widget space and large size photo widgets.
• App Library is coming to iPad and will be available on the dock.
• For Multitasking there will be a Split view and a shelf to view minimized app also added.
• Now Swift Playground is also added to the iPadOS 15 which will help the user to learn the code, build apps and submit it on the App store from their iPad.
• With iPadOS 15 Translation will also be possible. There will be a feature like auto-translate, system-wide translation, Live Text etc.

Apple WWDC 2021 - iOS 15:

There have been some really cool new features has been added to the iOS 15 such as-

• Spotlight - The universal search on an iOS spotlight search will now support Photos.
• Live Text - Now camera of an iPhone, iPad and Mac will identify the text in any photo with iOS 15. This Live text feature can recognise text, phone numbers, links etc. This feature will work on the screenshots too.
• Photos -  Now the user will be able to mix and match memories with more intelligent music suggestion playing in the background.
• Notifications - A new Focus mode is added to the iOS 15 which will let the users set up notification alerts from only certain apps as per the time you set and when the user will use Focus on one of the devices it will automatically set up to the other Apple devices too.
